Adventure in the dark land of Krevborna!

Once a country of picturesque villages, deep forests, and sublime mountain ranges, Krevborna is now preyed upon by werebeasts, witches, malicious fey, fiends, and the undead. The goal of adventures set in Krevborna is for the players’ characters to find ways to fight back against the evil that taints the land. Someone must light a candle against the enveloping, corrosive darkness.

I’m recruiting 4 or 5 players for a Dungeon World campaign to be streamed online most Wednesday evenings for about 2 hours. The campaign takes place in the world of Krevborna, originally created by Jack Shear.

Dungeon World is a “story game” that focuses on fantasy in a D&D-like world, but with far simpler mechanics. You say what you do, and everyone converses and improvises. Depending on the situation, you might need to roll a pair of 6-sided dice. The results of that roll determine whether you succeed (possibly with complications), but something will always happen when you roll. Everyone participates in building the world and creating the fiction or narrative. It’s fun and much easier as a game than “regular” Dungeons & Dragons. Don’t worry if you’ve never played DW before; we will learn together.

This setting has a dark Gothic feel to it. If you’ve played Diablo or Darkest Dungeon, or the plane of Innistrad in Magic: the Gathering, you already have a sense of what to expect. Krevborna is a place that feels very much like early modern Eastern Europe as its inhabitants believed it to be. Adventurers will be asked to track down and eliminate monsters and similar threats to civilization, often making hard moral choices as they do so.

Note that this game is a “safe space” for people of all backgrounds and identities. No harassment or hate of any sort will be allowed. In particular, this is a campaign that is LGBT+ friendly. Neither the game nor the group will engage in any sort of racism, sexism, or similar bigotry.
