UPDATE (Sep 9): I have enough players for now but will open up new spaces as schedules evolve!
You’re in a haunted Victorian-era city trapped inside a wall of lightning powered by demon blood.

“Blades in the Dark is a game about a group of daring scoundrels building a criminal enterprise on the haunted streets of an industrial-fantasy city. There are heists, chases, escapes, dangerous bargains, bloody skirmishes, deceptions, betrayals, victories, and deaths. At the start of the campaign, you will choose a crew type that will guide (but not define) the sorts of scores you normally pursue.
“We play to find out if this fledgling crew can thrive amidst the teeming threats of rival gangs, powerful noble families, vengeful ghosts, the Bluecoats of the City Watch, and the siren song of the scoundrels’ own vices.”
“Blades in the Dark”, p. 1
This streamed game takes place on Roll20 using Zoom for video and audio chat on Saturday evenings starting at 7pm US Central time, lasting approximately 3 hours. The first session will take place on September 14th, 2019.
Each session will consist of free play, a score, and the resulting downtime. Because of this structure, the actual play group may vary slightly from session to session. The campaign can thus include more “members” than the limit of a session (4 players plus GM). Characters who miss a session may get extra downtime when they return. Blades in the Dark is a simple, story-focused system inspired by Apocalypse World. You can learn to play it in just a few minutes, and we’ll be happy to teach you!
Make no mistake: this campaign will focus on mature themes, cosmic horrors, and unsavory deeds. These characters are not, generally speaking, heroes. We will include several safety tools, especially Lines & Veils, and the initial session will include specific discussion of tone & setting. In advance of that, however, all players should know that certain elements will already be off-limits, including sexual or domestic violence of any kind, violence towards children, or any explicit sexual conduct. Additionally, this game specifically excludes homophobia, misogyny, racism, and similar forms of bigotry. Characters don’t have to be friends, but they should be willing to work together as a group for a shared purpose. Intraparty conflict isn’t really contemplated in this game.
